CELEBRATING “STAR WARS” AT FORTY
“Star Wars” special and visual effects luminaries gathered at 32TEN Studios in San Rafael to reminisce and celebrate the film that brought them together and changed the look of feature films forever.
It’s been 40 years since “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” hit theaters. The reunion of the men and women who worked on the film, as well as “The Empire Strikes Back,” and “Return of the Jedi,” was the largest to date.
Holding the event at 32TEN – the former site of ILM where the effects for “Empire” and “Jedi” were produced – brought back many memories.
Luminaries John Dykstra, Joe Johnston, Richard Edlund, Phil Tippett, Ken Ralston, Chris Evans, Lorne Peterson, Paul Huston, Scott Farrar, Steve Gawley, Bill George, Craig Barron, Harrison Ellenshaw, Robert Blalack, Marcia Lucas, Howard Kazanjian, Gary Kurtz, Sid Gannis, Tom Smith, and Ben Burtt, and many more were in attendance.
